WP3 – Vision and Visualization

ETN_FPI_1The research goal of this work package is to characterize optimal visualization of 3D visual scenes onto various displays aimed at full parallax and to develop methods and systems for realistic interaction with such displays.
The research in this work package is divided in five tasks, which are also ESR’s individual projects:

In WP3 we address the problems of full parallax visualization and the related problems of quantifying the perceptual aspects of continuous parallax. For an interactive 3D visualization one should provide continuous head parallax and wide field of view. In most cases the lightfield cameras capture set of rays different from the one needed for wide field of view full-parallax visualization. In WP3 we study the optimal (from an end-user point of view) 3D visualization – i.e. what parallax density is required, how to generate it out of given lightfield representation and what is needed for interactive visualization with satisfactory quality.
This work package is led by University of Valencia. For further questions regarding the work package, please contact Prof. Manuel Martinez-Corral.
